Move over Black Friday & Cyber Monday, Prime Day has taken over as the largest shopping event in Amazon history!
In a press release by the company yesterday, it stated “sales surpassed the previous Black Friday and Cyber Monday combined. Prime members purchased more than 175 million items throughout the event.”
Although Amazon does not disclose revenue figures, the company did share a few highlights from its event:
- Members in 18 countries participated in Prime Day, doubling the number since the inception of Prime Day in 2015
- Prime members saved big – over $1 Billion in savings occurred during the event
- 2019 Prime Day was the best & biggest event for Amazon devices like Alexa, Echo Show and Fire tablets
- The top products purchased in the U.S. were LifeStraw Personal Water Filter, Instant Pot DUO0 and 23andMeHelath+Ancestry kits
How did small and medium-sized businesses fare? Amazon claims their sales exceeded $2 billion, again making this the biggest shopping event (on Amazon) for their third-party sellers – not too shabby!
